What is Calories Minute used for? 

Calories Minute is an application for iPhone/iPad that makes it easy to add calories, carbohydrates for diabetes management, and vitamins. A database gathers the foods most used in USA, and allows you to compose your own recipe.  

You can also define your daily activity and calculate your calories in and out.

A diet is not just calories that you burn! Maintaining a reasonable proportion between your fats, proteins and carbohydrates is important for your health, especially to maintain muscle mass. But this is, let say, a bit boring, and to make it more playful we proposed a representation, in the form of an animated flower, of the five main nutrients (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates), fibre and calories. Adjusting your meals so that your flower is beautiful and tonic really becomes a game! ​

Why paying attention to vitamines?

​Intake of vitamins and minerals is often reduced during a diet, and health problems associated with dietary deficiencies add to fatigue due to weight loss. Calories Minute proposes you to follow 7 minerals, as well as 12 vitamins. A review of the last 7 days allows us to check your intakes!

Yes, rice is absorbed and digested more rapidly than many other carbs! Whereas many factors can influence the rise of blood sugar, it is commonly accepted that a number, called Glycemic Index or GI, is related to how rapidly foods are absorbed and release glucose in blood. Low GI foods, due to their role as long acting carbs, participate in a healthy diet, especially for people with diabetes. Average GI for your meals or your recipes can be easily checked in Calories Minute, at any moment (how to activate the Glycemic Index).

What could be easier to add a food than reading its barcode? This is now possible (since version 4.0.0), thanks to the "Open Food Fact"project, a free and collaborative database gathering a very large number of food barcodes.

​Calories Minute gets a great user interface makeover!
Main additions:
  • A redesigned home page with dynamic presentation of all graphs. 
  • A complete assessment of your vitamins and minerals. 
  • Graphs showing the evolution of your vitamins and minerals over 7 days. Estimate of possible deficiencies.
  • Define your own activities, based on examples ("I spend 350 kCal for 45 minutes of this activity")
  • Activities: Definition of "typical days" made up of several activities, for your recurrent days.
  • Better integration of Apple Health for activities such as walking, cycling, climbing stairs, etc.

Who are we?

It is logical that a passionate programmer and a dietician come to propose an app to manage diet on mobile devices. But our motivation was the appearance of type 1 diabetes for our child, and the impossibility of managing functional insulin therapy with the applications available at the time. 

Quickly, users, diabetic or not, asked us for more functionalities to manage diets. We have therefore added the glycemic index, recipes, activities, vitamins and minerals assessments and many functionalities that make this application a success.
