How to define a recipe?
The recipe fonction is very powerful and can be used in different ways. First, open "Modify list" and "modify or add food":
In the "List" mode, a new button is added (with a "+") in the title bar (right) that allows for adding new items. Select all your ingredients, touch the "+" button, and choose "Recipe". The data of your recipe is displayed, with an estimation of the overall weight, and (if available) an estimated volume:
1-Defining a standard serving
In case recipes with given number of servings (e.g., a recipe for 12 cupcakes), it's convenient to modify the "Reference quantity for data" by setting the total serving in "serving" unit. For example, choose "12 serving" for a recipe that makes 12 cupcakes. Please check that the overall weight or volume really corresponds to your recipe (the estimation proposed does not take into account possible weight loss due to baking).
In this example, one serving corresponds to 1/12 of the total amount of calories, fiber, etc. Then, define the maximal serving: e.g. 2 for your cupcake.

2-Defining a reference volume or weight
In many situations (for example, your favorite risotto), it's best to define a reference serving by weight (10 oz for a plate of your favorite risotto). Touch "Reference quantity for data", and select your reference serving (e.g. 10 oz). Calories Minute proposes to rescale all nutritional facts.
Accept the rescaling. The maximal value of the slider will now correspond to this maximal serving.
Frequent problem: no refence serving proposed!
It is sometimes impossible to translate all ingredients into one weight or volume unit. For example, no weight or volume are proposed for one of the items, or items are expressed in volume and weight with no density provided. In this cases, Calories Minute cannot propose an estimate of weight or volume, but the method "1-defining a standard serving" can still be used.
